Finley's 1st Day of School

Finley had her 1st day of school on Sept. 5th.  She seemed excited about it, but I was nervous because she still kind of struggled at times being left in her new "big" class at church.  So, the kids and I "talked it up" and made her feel like an important, big kid, (just like brother & sister) who got to go to school.  After Berkeley & Oliver got on the bus, I got her fed and dressed and we got in the car to head to school.  On the way there, she asked "Why are Bertey & Olyer not here?"  I explained that they were at school.  She started to kind of whine and cry that she wanted them to take her to school too.  I realized that she was upset because ever since she was born, she would drop them off at school and pick them up with me, so she wanted them to drop her off and pick her up too.  It made me feel really bad that she was bummed that they didn't get to share her school experience with her like she had with them.  I would never have thought that she would have even thought about that or been upset about it.  So, on the way there, things weren't looking so hot and I thought it was going to be a tough first couple days of school.
There are about 4 siblings of kids that Oliver had in his class last year, so when we got there we saw her good friend Livvy whom she adores and ran right up to and hugged.  Livvy is Addy's sister, who had a crush on Oliver and who also played t-ball & soccer with him, so Fin is really familiar and good buddies with Livvy.  Then, we saw Ryan, Oliver's good buddy from preschool who has been to our house many times and who has a little sister, Madison, in Fin's class.  She LOVES Ryan and considers him one of her "best friends" so she ran up to him and gave him a huge hug and played with him for a few minutes.  I breathed a huge sigh of relief and slipped out the door on that good note!
She has done really well this year.  Far better that I ever imagined.  Her teachers are awesome and she adores them.  I'm thankful for such a sweet little school that all of our kids have started out at!
